Ascension Day at Mother See: “The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is the heart of all Armenians and the Homeland” On May 17, the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church celebrated the Ascension of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On this occasion, a Divine Liturgy was served by Primate of the Shirak Diocese, Bishop Mikayel Ajapahyan under the direction of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.

Aid to Artsakh more than doubled The U.S. House panel responsible for foreign aid this week adopted a number of provisions promoting U.S. interests and American values in the Caucasus, proposing sharply increasing aid to Nagorno Karabakh from $2 to $5 million and rejecting the Obama Administration’s proposed $7.2 million cut in aid to Armenia, reported the Armenian National Committee of America.

Local Commission on the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide holds session in Bucharest On May 14, the Union of Armenians of Bucharest held the session of the Local Commission on the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide during which Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan, as secretary of the state commission, discussed organizational issues with Ambassador Hamlet Gasparyan, Prelate of the Romanian-Armenian Diocese, Bishop Tatev Hakobyan, Senator, President of the Union of Armenians of Romania Varujan Vosganian and several Romanian-Armenian intellectuals. Agreements were reached on organizing joint events in the next three years.
