Kurdish MPs do not sign Turkish parliament document criticizing Armenian Genocide bill in France
Three parties in the Turkish parliament prepared a joint document which criticizes the French National Assembly’s upcoming examination of the bill that criminalizes the denial of the Armenian Genocide.
The document notes that the Armenian bill is based on one-sided facts, and that it is unacceptable and a historical mistake.
But the Turkish MPs were greatly surprised when parliament members of the Kurdish “Peace and Democracy Party” refused to sign under this document. The Party’s Deputy Faction leader Hasip Kaplan stated that the document does not reflect the reality of that time, and that is why they would not sign it, Milliyet daily of Turkey informed. To note, another Peace and Democracy Party MP recently stated, at the parliament floor, that Turkey has a culture of massacre, and he recalled the massacring of the Armenians in 1915.
